Abstract: The research investigates the impact of language barriers on adult education participation. This study aimed to explore how language difficulties affect adults' involvement in educational programs. The objectives were to assess the extent to which language barriers hinder participation, to evaluate the impact on learners' comprehension and engagement, and to identify strategies to overcome these barriers. A survey research design was employed as it allows for gathering extensive data from adult learners facing language challenges, providing a comprehensive understanding of the issue. A sample size of 280 adult learners with language barriers was selected to ensure diverse perspectives. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals experiencing significant language challenges in education. The case study was conducted in Ogun, Nigeria, a region with diverse linguistic backgrounds. Findings revealed that language barriers substantially impeded adult education participation by affecting comprehension and engagement. The study recommended implementing multilingual support services and language training programs to enhance participation and educational outcomes for individuals facing language barriers.
